Mock up completed

To pre-empt any potential problems with the model build, I have opted to make a mock up of two floors. This will highlight anything I need to be aware of before I begin to build the final model.

Issues that I have found I need to be aware of are as follows:

The paint rubbing off where I apply the glue to stick the vertical columns to the floor slabs.

There is also an issue with the glazing where it meets at the corner of the building. I need to make sure that I achieve a neat corner avoiding the gap as seen below.

The vertical columns were cut to an angle of 35.5° using the circular saw and angling the blade. Originally I used the indicator on the saw to set the correct angle. However this method wasn't accurate enough as can be seen below, so I decided to use an inclinometer to measure the angle of the blade.

I also had issues with the material thickness for the columns, it was supposed to be 5mm thick however this can be thicker or thinner by a few tenths of a mm. The laser cutting drawing was set to allow 5mm however the columns wouldn't fit so I had to file down the material using a needle file. To avoid this pitfall for the actual model I intend to cut the columns first and measure the thickness before I cut the floor plates.
